The
HVX200, HPX500, and the HPX2000 are P2 cameras our Colorado cameraman Nick
has shot with. Another member of our camera crew, Josh, has also operated
the HPX500 for corporate clients in Colorado. There are several advantages
for Colorado cameramen, and camera crews, as well as, disadvantages for
Colorado camera crews shooting P2 for outside Colorado clients. P2 is not
a media that is cheap, or mailed off without being missed by the cameraman
buying the media. P2 however can be shot on to over again. P2 has also current
limited record time, and requires transfer time to unload the previously
shot video. P2 is also good for in house productions, but causes apprehension
among freelance cameramen and camera crews having to run and gun all day.
Our Colorado cameraman Nick is a bit of an old dog when it comes to cameras,
but still is open for new tricks of camera technology.
Each of these cameras has particular advantages
for cameramen and camera crews/production companies such as variable
frame rates including 24p, 30p, 60i, as well as, wide screen and standard
aspect ratios. Additional benefits included digital transfers, loss less
editing quality ( for some formats ) and smaller design, advantages over
Beta SP. The professional DV format is one of the many formats for reality
shows, and documentaries, although it's gaining popularity among corporate
clients, and numerous other broadcast markets. BetaSp has advantages of
DV/DVCAM because of it's forgiving audio, well adopted base among cameramen,
camera crews, networks, and global clients, and the uncompressed color sampling.
XCAM/XDCAM, XDCAM HD and IMX are camera formats made from Sony (like Betacam SP), and have promising features such as digital picture and sound, as well as, digital transfer to editing stations. These formats are a good choice for higher end broadcast applications, although not as commonly used. XDCAM, and IMX are popular for reality shows, and reality show cameramen, and large reality show camera crews. Our Colorado cameramen Nick and Josh have shot with these cameras for Colorado, and national productions.
