Production
sound mixers aka recordists, boom operators, location
audio tech's or studio sound technicians all have
one thing in common - a good audio mixer. For corporate
video, film, ENG, EFP, SNG, for camera crews - all
need a good experienced sound person competent with
a reputable mixer that has a good signal to noise
ratio. This is where I come into your picture. Aside
from having worked with all the major ENG/EFP common
mixers, many recorder/mixer units and console sound
mixers I use 3 common ENG/EFP audio mixers
- the PSC AlphaMix (a improvement on the 442 in signal
to noise), a Sound Devices 442, a all around versatile
mixer for it's compressor/limiters, and a Tascam DR
HS-P82 - a mixer & recorder that beats them all
with time code sync recording and a very clean noiseless
signal. I use the Tascam for more demanding applications
needing more inputs such as for reality shows or specific
television programming, sometimes events or other
production needs. The Tascam HS-P82 also is similar
in performance to the DIVA 8, but records to solid
state compact flash cards. This makes the recording
media, faster and more reliable (imagine a hard drive
failing on a shoot with all the audio files - not
good Jimbo', not good). The Tascam records to flash
cards which have a life cycle that will expire after
I retire. I also use a Marantz 660 recorder for mixing
lesser demanding applications, such as DSLR audio
where slate clapping is used for the editor to sync
sound. But, if you need time code sync, I'm there
for you with the Tascam, able for 8 independant track
time code stamped recording - NICE.
Or I can mix to stereo + 8 solo time code audio tracks.
If you're using a smart slate with timecode, I can
take that as well for audio syncing, or slave your
slate or cameras - EASY
Whatever
resources I bring, I bring the experience and top
attitude, as well, experience in production dating
to pre 1991 for broadcast, as well, film + other types
of audio production.
if
you're a DP/camera person or crew looking for an
easy going, reliable location sound expert easy to
get along with, not only with the right mixer,
the right microphones + the support resources, as
well as, someone whom can help with your production
- please consider me throughout Denver, Colorado Springs,
Boulder, Aurora, Fort Collins metro areas, the Rocky
Mountains or where you need the reliability in Colorado
on location.
Console
mixers I use include a Mackie 1404 and a Mackie 1202
for some ENG, EFP or other production audio mixing
needs, along with the other sound peripherals to meet
the input/output & recording medium.
